Every summer, the population on the coast of Ostend doubles. Beach lifeguards, doctors, ambulance workers, police, and firefighters work hard to keep the coast safe. ‘Local Heroes: The Coast’ follows the activities of these emergency services.
My tasks
During the summer of 2020, a full team was deployed across various emergency services in and around Oostende. I was stationed with the rescue helicopter and was responsible for ensuring that the onboard cameras were operating when they were in flight. In addition, I also joined the crew as a camera operator.
My responsibilities included:
- Keeping track of our interventions
- Maintaining the camera system in the helicoptor
- Filming
- Data management
- Obtain permissions to film
